Belén Funes’ first film was awarded this October 26th with the III Prize of the SGAE Dunia Ayuso Foundation at the 64th edition of the International Film Week in Valladolid.
The jury composed of Cristina Andreu Cuevas, Isabel de Ocampo García and María Miró González unanimously awarded the prize to ‘A thief’s daughter’: “We think that Belén Funes in her first film ‘A thief’s daughter’ demonstrates a great cinematographic maturity, she knows perfectly well what she wants to tell and how to tell it. This accompaniment to her protagonist, Greta Fernández, a young woman, mother and daughter, and alone, to whom the camera is on its back as society treats it. A society the director does not want to ignore, a society that does not allow people, as the protagonist shouts, to be normal. ”
