‘Devil between the legs’, the last work of the renowned mexican director Arturo Ripstein, has been co-produced by several mexican producers along with Oberon cinematográfica. In the production of Carnaval Films, in addition to Oberon cinematográfica, participated Alebrije Cine y Video, Filmadora Nacional i Estudios Churubusco.

The script of the film written by Paz Alicia Garciadiego, the director’s usual screenwriter, is a drama about old age that talks about the crisis of an adult couple and their sexuality. Every day Beatriz, the main character played by Sylvia Pasquel, is victim of insults, harassment and humiliation by her jealous husband, but does not run away from his side because they have created a codependence and, at least she, would not conceive of her life from another way.

The film was released internationally at the Toronto International Film Festival and then had its premiere in Mexico at the Morelia International Film Festival. Since that time, ‘Devil between the legs’ has made an extensive tour around several international festivals of reference, some in competition and others out of competition, to make themselves known. Ripstein’s film has been in South Korea at the Busan International Film Festival, in Poland at the Warsaw Film Festival, in Brazil at the Sao Paulo International Film Festival and at Festival do Rio, in Belarus at the Minsk International Film Festival, in Norway at the Films from the South, in Estonia at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and in India at the International Film Festival of India-Goa.
